If we truly want something to happen in our boat, we’ve got to allow Christ into it and push it off from dry land; employee and customer manipulation, unkept promises and offers, etc. There is a code by which to manage our homes and businesses and it’s found in the Word. You must walk in integrity within what God’s given us.

If you wish to wander into the supernatural, than you must stop walking in the natural, for the supernatural goes way beyond that and it’s solely founded in the spiritual realm. Against our nature, Christ, God and prophets left behind supernatural examples in this book as well as reports on how bad things got with those that only focused on practicing and living in the natural. We find Moses extending his rod to open the Red Sea,….we find Joshua marching around Jericho,….we find Elijah being taken up in a whirlwind; Elisha causing axe heads to float, Elijah being fed by ravens, a widow taking her own bread to feed a prophet, these are examples of instructions and commands that usher us into living in the supernatural.

His Word is what we need. Do you think God is detached from businesses and universities? Many have detached Him, but this doesn’t mean that He doesn’t want to be there. Objectivity, Subjectivity and Spirituality are three different things. I don’t like being subjective, however I believe in subjectivity. I also believe in spirituality; if the Word of God says it, provokes it or commands it, then it’s supernatural. There we find Joshua praying for the Sun to stand still or the earth be it what it may, this is what we find in the scriptures. Here we find situations for them that believe, but not for those that want to understand how it happened, nor for those that go, “Well, the Red Sea wasn’t that big, and the water level was real low…”, that just proves how greater the miracle, because all those egyptians drowned in that little stream.

Hebrews 1:1-3. Repeat after me, “Lord, it’s time for your Word in my life!” Who made the universe? The Son, Jesus Christ. Hebrews 11:3. How was it made? By God’s Word, for the Son and the Word are the same, John 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So then who is God?….the Word: Jesus. The Bible says that the pure in heart shall see Him. If you want to see Him, than keep your heart pure. But in the meanwhile, how about hearing Him? His Word, His Word alone, has the power. Many times you can hear His Word, in my voice or in your spouse’s voice. You need to understand that the important thing is to hear His Word, regardless of the voice you hear it thru. God speaks thru different voices, but it’s all the same Word.

The power’s in the Word, despite the voices God chooses. What is God’s voice like? Like the voice of all those that decree and believe His Word. If you were to say, “I sure wished I could hear God’s audible voice”, I’d say you already have many times, but just haven’t recognized it. If you believe God’s Word through your spouse, than you’ve also heard God’s audible voice. Many people underestimate how God speaks, perhaps that’s why they overlook just how many times they’ve actually heard Him.

It worries me to see how so many people try to live life. You’re driving your car one day, and all of a sudden you’ve got to slam on the breaks, because of a pedestrian proudly striding across the street, like they’re gonna stop a 50 mph car, in its tracks. I mean they’re purposely walking at a snail’s pace, so you’ll have to stop the car and still have the audacity of grinning back at you. I mean you don’t need a car to be arrogant, you can just as easily do it on foot. Has that ever happened to you? It greatly distresses me to see some of you going through life that way. Life’s coming at you fast, the system’s right on your tail, it’s about to run you over. Why not be humble about it and get with the program.
Go: “Lord, I need Your Word now, more than ever before!” Not when I’m pressed down, run over and beaten to a pulp. I’m constantly giving you scriptures. How long have you been saved? And you haven’t gone thru the entire Bible even once. Slip your hands up and repeat after me: “It’s time for the Word. If the universe is run by it, than my life will too!” How can it be that God needed His Word to make the universe, but you want to live in the universe without abiding by it?!? How is it that Christ had to heal people by the Word, but you want to be made whole without it? I just don’t understand how God had to govern and guide His People by His Word, thru commandments, yet you want to keep a nation from it?

Hebrews 1:2-3. The universe was made and is governed by God’s powerful Word. My life was created and must be upheld by God’s mighty Word. What governs your life, marriage, business and kids? What do we need? It’s time for what?….THE WORD! Colossians 1:17. By Him all things consist. He is the essence of all that was made. When Jesus Christ came in the flesh, when the Word was made flesh,…..Genesis 1 says that in the beginning, the Spirit of God moved, it didn’t do anything except move. The Spirit can move, but nothing’s going to happen until the Word is said. For Christ to become flesh, the Spirit had to rest upon Mary. You might be filled with the Spirit, but you also need to be filled with the Word. You might be packed with anointing, but you still need the Word.

When the Holy Spirit fell upon the disciples, one of the manifestations was that they spoke. The mouth is filled with power. Your home went haywire when you started using the wrong words, offensive words. Words are really powerful, therefore we need to be filled with the Word of God which is powerful to do good. All things are upheld by His Word. I started off from scrap. Even in preaching, as a young boy, I started from scratch. In my finances, in my family I started from way down low. But when you believe this Word, things can TRULY AND GENUINELY change. It’s time to immerse ourselves in His Word.

Matthew 14:22-26. Some of you might be sick here, or your finances might be stricken, however if God were to heal your finances, who’s to say that you’d still stay here. You’re being deceived by your problems and you’re missing so much Word that can totally fix your life, just because your set on having the Creator of the Universe fix your itty-bitty, little issue. Who said life would be free of problems? We’re all going to have problems in life, but not all of us are going to have the necessary character to face them. You want to miraculously be free of debt, but you’re not willing to develop the character to stay free of them. Fix your character, already!!!

The wind was so strong against them, that even after nine hours, they still weren’t able to make it to the other side. These are fishermen, we’re talking about here. They were used to the sea. But this was just a small lake. It can be crossed in very little time. These people were used to winds and storms in their line of work. They were used to getting to the other side. They weren’t fearful. But, once you’ve rowed for so many hours without getting there, you’re tired, exhausted and worn out, just like in life. The only difference is that you start saying,…”We’re gonna drown!”, just after barely ½ an hour, much less nine. While many are battling the storm, others are interceding for your strength to not falter. Then all of sudden they see Jesus who says, “Fear not, it is I.”

Sometimes, the solutions God gives us are more frightening than the problem itself. And many times when Jesus wants to grant you the solution with His Word, you have such a hard time believing it. For example, I say to you, “Don’t worry God’s going to do this or that.” But you see it so difficult from coming to pass. Like a ghost, it was even more frightening than the storm. I believe that Peter must have wanted to walk on the water with Jesus, because he must have thought, “Jesus looks safer there, than us over here.” So, Peter started walking on the water. All too often you feel safe and secure in your method of running your life, your business. But at Jesus’ Word, He went “come” and Peter started walking.

Where was he safer? Walking on water seeing Jesus, or in the boat? God’s telling you to get out of the boat of your assurance, and start walking on His Word!” Many of you have received a Word from God and you need to fulfill it. When God told me, “build it”, his silouette appeared and said to me, “go and buy the property”, then He immediately disappeared. Because He knew I was going to say, “what will I buy it with?….the church is too small. But now we’re all sitting here with air conditioning. Do you know how many faith pledges were made? The 1st. ones were about three hundred, of which only 70% actually payed up and came through. Yet here we are standing in God’s Word, in something He commanded us to do.
There’s one danger with subjectivity instead of spirituality and that is people who claim that God speaks to them, but they never read the Word. We must walk fully in His Word! God commands us, who told them to get in the boat?…Jesus. Boy, does He have a sense of humor. When everyone saw Jesus, they went “it’s a ghost!”, and Christ goes “it’s I”. Matthew 14:28. Peter didn’t start sinking because of the waves, but when he saw what he was doing, that’s when he started to sink.

Whatever’s started by the Word, must be completed by the Word. You went out on a limb and opened your cell group by saying, “Now, I’m going to walk by the Word.”, however you encountered a problem and started sinking. If tthe Word of God, which is Jesus Christ, truly upholds all things, then did Peter walk on water or on the Word?!? Water can’t uphold a man, but there is something that can: the Word of God! Peter walked on the Word, and it’s solid as a rock! Sonia and I haven’t doubted for a second what our calling is, yet the key is in the sureness we have about our calling: THE WORD. What are you currently doing outside of the Word? Why don’t you give the Word a try? Why don’t you give the scriptures a run, believing that you’re going to abound and just walk on His Word. Just say, “I’m going to walk on His Word, I’m going to cast my nets out on His Word, for the Glory of God!”. Amen.
