December 12th, 2008Luis Palau - Trusting In God When We Suffer
Several years ago a submarine sank with its entire crew at the height of the Atlantic thing in North America. When at last the ship was found, divers were dispatched to assess damage and the possibility of rescuing the wreck.
When the divers approached the hull of the ship, were surprised by a knock in Morse code. It was obvious that someone was alive inside the submarine. The message was a question hopeless against the walls of the tomb of water: “Is there hope? Is there hope? ”
You and I are doing the same question when we face a particular problem or when a tragedy touches us closely. After all, who is completely free of the immense grief of losing a loved one, the frustration of unemployment, the anguish of a home vandalized or hundreds of other difficulties?
We feel trapped and submerged by the weight of circumstances and ask: “Is there hope? Is there really hope to solve this problem? “
Often in such cases recall the words of Romans 8:28, “And we know that those who love God, all things help them either, that is, who according to his purpose are called.” We must note that Paul did not say:
“We understand how all the good things help,” but said “we know that help either.” This promise is a safe anchor when the storms of life beat mercilessly against us.
The apostle Paul had claimed that promise many times, even before having written his famous letter to the Romans. He knew what it was to suffer hardship, persecution, indifference, betrayal, loneliness, illness, stoning, flogging, shipwrecks, nakedness, hunger and thirst, lack of sleep, tremendous pressures.
What prevented that Paul was a dive? I think their total trust in the God who promises to sustain whatever it happen. At the end of his life was able to say: “I know who I thought, and I’m sure you can keep what I have entrusted him until the day of his return” (2 Timothy 1:12 BD). What he had commissioned Paul to God? His own life.
In the Old Testament we read: “You will keep in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3). This promise is also aimed at us today, as repeatedly revealed in the New Testament.
Are you facing a challenge, man? Once again let his life in the hands of the Lord. Then creates heart the words of Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not strive for anything; rather pray for everything. Submit to God your needs and then do not stop to thank him for his answers. By doing this you will know what is the peace of God, which is so extraordinarily beautiful that the human mind can never understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your heart in the stillness and the rest of faith in Jesus Christ “(BD).
When the storms of life seem overwhelming, God wants her to experience perfect peace.
Oh, Father, we praise you because you understand all our sorrows and our tears. We recognize our failure to solve for ourselves the problems of life. Your grace that short supply to fill our deepest needs. Consuélanos while we wait on Thee. It fills our hearts with your peace that surpasses all understanding. Thanks for your rich provision for us on this day. Amen. ”
Pray this prayer to the Lord right now, and will begin to experience in his life the reality of God’s promises in times of difficulty.
