Born in Kelvedon, Essex, Spurgeon’s conversion to Christianity came on January 6, 1850, at the age of fifteen. On his way to a scheduled appointment, a snow storm forced him to cut short his intended journey and to turn into a Primitive Methodist chapel in Colchester where, in his own words: “God opened his heart to the salvation message.” The text that moved him was Isaiah 45:22 - “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else.”
Later that year, on April 4, 1850, he was admitted to the church at Newmarket. His baptism followed on May 3 in the river Lark, at Isleham. Later that same year he moved to Cambridge. He preached his first sermon in the winter of 1850 / 1851 in a cottage at Teversham, Cambridge; from the beginning of his ministry his style and ability were considered to be far above average. In the same year, he was installed as pastor of the small Baptist church at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, where he published his first literary work: a Gospel tract written in 1853. During my childhood I was abused sexually, emotionally, verbally and physically. Many of you have also been abused, or you deal with someone in your life who comes from an abusive, dysfunctional background.
What does abuse mean? It means “to misuse, to use improperly, to use up or to injure by maltreatment.” The effects of abuse can be devastating and long-lasting. Many people never recover from it. Let me give you a brief definition of the four types of abuse.
The Word of God in Matthew 20:20 says: “Then he approached the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her children, and fell before Him and ask you something. He said: What do you want? She said: Mandates in your kingdom are both my children, the one to your right and the other to your left. Then Jesus answering, said to him, not you realize what you ask. Can you drink the cup that I drink, and be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized? And they told him: We can. He told them the truth, in my case beberéis, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, but the sitting to my right and my left, it is not mine, but to those for whom it is prepared by my Father “. In other words, come to the right and left but pay the price of the sacrifice, even they can give me in return for nothing, just my dad knows what he will do.
In verse 24 says: “When the ten heard this, is angry against the two brothers. That was because everyone wanted the right and left. The Lord gave them twelve thrones, but everyone wanted those two because they Read the rest of this entry »

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.”
-Philippians 2:5
It is impossible to live pure lives until we have pure hearts. Many people today are trying to put the cart before the horse. They are teaching purity of motives, desires, and actions to old, deceitful hearts! No wonder we have ended up such moral failures, in spite of our vaunted knowledge and psychological approaches.
Pure motives, desires, and actions stem from pure hearts. Pure hearts will be Christlike. It is God’s desire that we be conformed to the image of His Son. If Christ lives within us and our bodies become the abode of the Holy Spirit, is it any wonder that we should be like Him?
If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 1 John 4:20
“If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?” Matthew 5:46-47
